Stagnone

Gibellina

Gibellina was hit, in 1968, by a violent earthquake which caused hundreds of deaths and injuries and tens of thousands of displaced people. Several towns were reduced to rubble. Among these also Gibellina, a mountain village in the province of Trapani which now, instead of people, hosts one of the greatest works of Land Art in the world: Alberto Burri’s Cretto.
